Minardi, D. (2020). The grim fate could be ‘worse than extinction’; What would it take for a global totalitarian government to rise to power indefinitely? This nightmare scenario may be closer than first appears. BBC Future. Retrieved July 23, 2021, from /future/article/20201014-totalitarian-world-in-chains-artificial-intelligence.
The author reveals that the Nazis had the power and technology of today. Describing the defeat of Nazis as a great deed, he says it took a world war to stop them. Besides, the recent global innovation like nuclear power in the greed of controlling the world could cause as bad as the extinction of our species, generating the same effect as a totalitarian government. His Singleton Hypothesis helps by saying that obtaining a significant lead by gaining a technological breakthrough in artificial intelligence or molecular nanotechnology could give rise to one decisive controlling power in the world, which could survive for a long time with the help of these innovations. This power could prevent and inhibit internal challenges efficiently through technology like surveillance or autonomous weapons, and this monopoly could help them stay stable perpetually. Thus this article sufficiently supports the fact that technological advancements have reduced the previous threats to the rise and stability of a totalitarian government.
Babones, S. (2021). Yes, You Can Use the T-Word to Describe China China is governed by a totalitarian regime. Why is that so hard to say?. Foreign Policy Insider. Retrieved July 23, 2021, from https://foreignpolicy.com/2021/04/10/china-xi-jinping-totalitarian-authoritarian-debate/.
This article describes communist China as a totalitarian state. In Xinjiang, China is practicing Totalitarianism by using the top tools of social control to manipulate people into cultural oblivion, disregarding the social aspects of millions of people. Using technology to track online communications, facial recognition features to monitor the physical activities, controlling all mass and most social media is a pure and straightforward totalitarian approach lacking only the monitoring of everyone’s living room or, more precisely, keeping an eye upon everyone through their smartphone’s camera. The concentration of power in China has already matched that of the Nazis and Soviets, and today’s technology has provided the more potent mechanism for surveillance and control, predicting a more prolonged, stabilized totalitarian rule. Thus, this article supports the fact that we are once again entering an era of Totalitarianism, which is anticipated to be more assertive than the old totalitarian governments due to the strong influence of technology today.

Hannah Arendt explores the operations and institutions of a totalitarian government. She discusses the anti-Semitism in central and western Europe and describes how it ended up with World War l. She describes Nazis and the Soviet Union as the powers rising as totalitarian governments and their violent struggles to maintain their dominance as one world power to control the rest of the world. She says that rather than opposing philosophies, the goal of both governments led to the evolution of classes into masses and ethnicity and genocide. The plan to isolate the groups and desolate the world of specific classes was directed to by sheer power, which ultimately required full use of all state resources. The role of propaganda and power are discussed in the book to drive a totalitarian state which makes the point why and how these governments eventually failed and the preconditions for total dominance in the coming era.
ANDERSON, J., & RAINIE, L. (2020). Concerns about democracy in the digital age. Pew Research Center. Retrieved July 23, 2021, from /internet/2020/02/21/concerns-about-democracy-in-the-digital-age/.
This research report is based on the findings of different authors and clearly states the threats to democracy caused by the advancements in technology. The report predicts that by 2030, 75% of the world’s population will have been enslaved due to artificial intelligence and surveillance systems rapidly being developed in China, thus producing the power to keep every citizen monitored every minute and second. The report says that this usually happens in a society that is not bothered to protect liberty and is being hypnotized so much through technological innovations that it can be controlled and driven easily to desired goals. Thus, this leads to a scenario where people will be controlled and monitored by the government efficiently with the help of new technology. Therefore, this report emphasiz...
