Best, Yalda Personal Statement To: American University College of Arts & Sciences Admissions Committee. I am making an application to your graduate program to the MS Computer Science “Applied Computer Science Program” starting Fall 2024. My career ambition is to become a software engineer to fulfill the need for software development in this broad field. For the past year, I’ve been immersed in learning and coding. My inspiration comes from observing family members and friends who are developers themselves. Over the past years since 2022, I have dealt with various aspects of this field. I have been taking some Online Master Classes in Software Testing with some Programming languages on Udemy & from there I taught myself analytical and technical testing skills & techniques with JIRA & Agile/Scrum SDLC that involve all the phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) & Testing Life Cycle (STLC), & some programming languages such as SQL, C#, Python, & JAVA. I've become proficient in SQL, mastering the creation of databases, executing queries, and manipulating tables efficiently. I've also helped the development community by assisting with tasks like application testing, especially in regression testing. In addition, I’ve also taken an active role in automating testing using both selenium & C#. Beyond my commitments, I’ve devoted my time to developing websites, harnessing the power of HTML, CSS, & JavaScript. Now. I'm keen to capitalize on the opportunities the graduate Programs (American University) offer. I am determined to develop further my skills and knowledge as a software engineer and make a meaningful impact in this broad field. I chose this program because I have a passion for coding and am interested in software engineering. I learned that American University MS programs train students to create a pathway toward a career and offer maximum career choice in computer science jobs for computer science students like me, from diverse backgrounds. I know that the MS program offers students 4 specializations, & I will have the opportunity to learn and work within internship programs, & faculty projects with theoretical or practical options from skilled professors who will mentor and help students throughout the program. Upon Completing this program, I would be able to walk away with Programming skills, Software development skills, communication, and teamwork skills to take a position in the Technology broad field. I have high hopes to be accepted into this program because it would be a great opportunity and an important start for me since I changed my career to the computer science field.
